Nirvana was originally released in 1991 as a BMKE (Bone Machine Legend) font designed by Scott Kitterman for Mattel as part of the Masters of Contemporary media series.
Designed for use as a background for toys and games, it quickly became an icon for the animatedTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series and has since appeared in dozens of media outlets, including appearances in video games, television series, and feature films.
